It's something we sometime forget. Something that drifts by unnoticed with the everyday always-same landscapes, dusty and dreamlike.
Every day Groundhog Day. Days without end. Time flowing uninterrupted and seldom marked. No weekends. No happy hours. No other friends to see. Just 14 months of work. Day in. Day out. Always call. Every hour of everyday.
So, yes, we sometimes forget just how long a year is because we've missed so much. In the countless march of time, we've been away from things - everything - both great and small. Weddings and birthdays, divorces and new crushes, children speaking their first words, loved ones alone and missing us more than we can know.
Life goes on, inexorably, whether with us or not. We've been away for too long. And too many of us, I think, have forgotten just how long a year is.
